1990 F-150 Ignition/Lock Problem

Recently the ignition lock seemed to be binding when going from the on position to the start position. Today I began jiggling the switch and I could no longer start the engine. Feels like something broke. I replaced the ignition switch to no avail. I have a tilt wheel and don't know how to remove the ignition lock. I think the problem lies within the lock mechanism and the actuating rod. HELP!!!!!!

To remove the switch, turn the key to the "on" position and then use an small nail or an ice pick, etc. to push the locking pin so you can pull the switch out. The hole for this pin in at the lower side of the switch towards the driver.

With the switch out, you should be able to turn the locking mechanism with a screwdriver. I've got a tilt wheel but haven't had to take it apart yet so can't give you any help with that.

Got the lock out now it appears there is a lot of play in the actuator rod. Not sure where to go with this. Appears something is broke in the steering column. Anyone have a schematic of a tilt wheel ignition lock system??

OK I found the problem to be the actuator assembly that interfaces with the lock and the actuator rod. A guide broke off the actuator. Got a new one however, I have a tilt wheel and I can not get the new part in place. Lack of clearance. Looks like the tilt assembly has to be broken down to install the part. Anyone know how this part is installed? Do I have to break down the tilt mechanism? If so how is it done?

Thanks for the help. However, I did finally figure it out. There are two pins on either side of the tilt assembly. Both pins ar threaded internally. I simply found a screw that fit the pins and was able to remove them with a pair of pliars. This allowed seperation of the articulated member and allowed enough room for installation of the part.
