One ford engine I would exclude from my above statement is the 300 six
I've driven my share of 302 powered 90's model F150's one word I would use to describe them all is SLOW even when equipped with a stick they're downright slug like. I have NO doubts that the 4.9L/300 six is faster and much torquer than a 302 powered truck with the same gears and trans. To that end I only buy fords with the 300, in fact it boggles my mind that ford actually charged people extra for the inferior 302
Your power is great compared to what????? Have you driven a late model truck from one of the competitors?
Line em up LOL what would you like to be outran with I have two minivans and a Jeep any of which I'm confident will flat walk away from a stock f-150 with a 302
Yah Im a fan off the 300 six. I have had three off those trucks with that motor. Great motor. I have 2003PSD to compare to an off course the diesel makes great power but my 302 powers my truck real good. Ford made some changes in 1996 to the intake an computer that really livened up the 302 in my particular truck. My truck is no slug believe me. If i get on it I can go from 0 to 65 in very short order. I probably could take most trucks in the quarter. Although i havent raced before.
I'd much rather have the 302 over the 6 in a 90s 150. At least you can get more power out of the 302 fairly easy and its supported by the aftermarket better. Not to mention the I6 sounds like crap when you open up the exhaust a little.
Either motor is good. Both the 300 six an 302are old school Ford motors. The 6 being the longest production Ford motor made. The 302 not far behind. If memory serves me right the 300 six came out in 1965 the 302 1968 ending production in 1996. For Ford fans the 302 is the one motor that is comaprable to the 350 Chevy. The aftermarket is huge.

I will say that the 300-6 is a way better truck motor than the 302, but the 302 is a way better race motor.
Someone said previously that the 3006 is not easily modded and that is simply not true there are a host of performance products for the 300-6.
Honestly, yes he will get better miles per gallon if he chooses the V6 Chevy Silverado. Did he indicate he wanted a V8, I am sure all the V8 of that time got crappy mileage.
The I6 got crappy mileage back then too. I looked at a 94 GMC with the I6, and the guy was trying to tell me how good of mileage it got.
I asked him to test the mileage for me, and he got 16 MPG's driving it like a grandpa.
My V8 powered Dodge gets 17 driving like a Grandpa. AND I have more power.
Easy there guy, I had a dodge once. It was a Dodge 250 Van national traveler with a 318 ci not sure what tranny. For the few years that I drove it, it had a intake manifold leak and a slippin engine. The FORD dealer gave $1000.00 for trade in. That's when i bought the superduty, but all in all i was really happy at how it took care of me. It got decent MPG and never left me stranded. Dodge is a pretty good product. Gotta love thos 1970 Challenger/Charger though

GM had a 4.3 TBI V-6 by 1993, not an I-6. I got 14-16mpg city and up 19-23 mpg highway with 3.42 gears and an automatic transmission. And most important, it wasnt gutless like the Ford I-6 I test drove.
Before trading a diesel F-250 for something else, why is it getting only 12mpg? Maybe a gearset change is all it needs, 3.55 instead of 4.10 for example. Just a thought.
