Removing the DPF

Ok so as I understand it, if this part is removed or deleted it voids the warranty ? The DPF I mean.

It would be a modification and requires the ECM to be reprogrammed, so yes it could potentially result in powertrain warranty claims being denied.

Yes, your warranty would be gone, that's if they know it was removed. Also, you would need a tuner, or some platform to turn off regen's...

u need to get a tuner capable of running a dpf delete tune. if u dont run one, your truck will constantly be in regen (the sensors will see all the soot going through your exhaust and keep the truck in constant regen). i would look at spartan, sct, ect... whatever u do, dont just pull it off and run it!

Spartan Diesel is the name of the company to contact. There are programs for running with or without the DPF. If you plan to remove the DPF you HAVE to have a programmer designed for this application. If you simply remove the DPF without reprogramming the PCM you will be in regen all the time. If you remove the DPF and use a programmer that is not programmed for DPF removal the same thing will occur and probably more severe damage.

Think of it like this. You cant take a carbureted car and slap a fuel injection intake on it. You have to have the proper electronic controls in place or it will never work.

Ok I understand the programmer part. Thank you. What good comes from removing the DPF? And also I have the 100,000 mile warranty I would hate to loose it. So if I can run the programmer without actually removing the part and get significant gains I should be good ?

Talk with the dealer you intend to have service the truck should problems arise. I just bought a new 08 F350 and one of my 1st questions to both the truck manager and the service manager was about mods. I was told to use company "X" and there would be no warranty issues. Company "X" has a good working relationship with this dealer and they know just what Company "X" does and his workmanship.

The use of a programmer is what could cause the warranty issues, you can always reinstall the DPF, its the possible remaining evidence of a tuner that could bite you.
You have to decide if your percieved benefits outweigh the risks, and the official Ford Corporate position with this engine is no mods.

Bottom line is be prepared to void your warranty with a programmer. The jury is out as to whether or not Ford can really tell or not. The fact that I can crash my home PC and someone has the ability to restore it all tells me that EVERY computer has a memory that is retrievable by the right person. My personal opinion is that even if your local dealer is willing to work with you on mods, be very careful or get it in writing. What happens if you need service 500 miles from home? I had a dealer refuse me service because I had removed the cat and muffler on a previous truck. Sounds crazy but it happened. What happens if that dealer goes out of business or the service manager quits? As mentioned, talk to them on their thoughts but still proceed with caution.
Im not saying you cant get away with it, many people do. But you need to have the mind set and awareness that IF you get caught then all the repairs are on your dime.
