Is your truck stock or do you use a programmer to tow with. I am thinking about a larger travel trailer around 34 ft weighing around 8500 lbs and was wondering how the truck pulls.

My truck pulls my Fleetwood Wilderness fine and is well within the 8800# tow rating. It works harder up hills, but no more than most mid-sized gas motors do. The good thing about the 5.4 is the flat torq curve, good for hauling. I was driving an '08 Silverado last week (rental vehicle) and it had a 5.3. It had little torq down low,but opened up like a rocket at 4000 rpm's and up. Not my idea of a truck motor. The 5.4 has plenty of power off the line, good for getting a trailer taking off.
i pull a 1976 20' camper. like 4200 lbs. also have a 16' boat. on a side note, my father in law pulls a 32' 8k lb camper with 2 slides with a 2008 tahoe flex fuel at 80mph down the interstate without any problems!
