Well, you're right on the court decision- its the same as the drug industry's court decision a few years befor.....lets see where we are now with the Drug industry....
As a privately owned pharmacy, the drug mfgs dictate to me what I will sell and the price I will sell it at also....
In the drug & IT industry, federal funding has paid for 100% of the R&D, in the drug industry that includes all expenses to bring the drug to market, in the IT industry, that means bringing the core components to the market where other "mfg's" can purchase & modify to meet the needs of the retail.
Today, a topical Rx cream that has been around since the 1970's cost (wholesale) about $6, and required to be sold for $67 and the retailer gets a "rebate" based upon the retail total sales, but the profits (100%) go to the drug mfg's.
Every circuit board, software programs development source was federal funds- some through DoD, some through University R&D. What the court ruled in essence was....
Federal $ can be used to pay for all of the R&D, we can give the technology to industry & the marketplace to create a retail sales market, we can allow a mfg/retailer to set a price regardless of the marketplace demands and the federal funds never have to be paid back......That's not a free marketplace & I too believe itthe decision will come crashing down on the current industry when they have pushed their price point "Outside" of the marketplace- this is where a small company of it staff will be grown, undercutting the existing market with their own product and well, they will become the Kaiser steel of today!
i had a superchips on my 07 f150 5.4 i liked it a lot, its for sale also it and 2 k&n filters to fit in stock location for 175 shipped the filters need cleaning but i think its a good deal.
I'll complain!! Where's my 75 rwhp and my +5mpg??????
In all seriousness, Mike Butler @ 5 Star made my truck much more fun to drive. Woke it up some, got rid of the majority of the DBW lag, and the trans is nice and firm.
For the $$$ his work and his customer service are VERY hard to beat.
Exactly!!! I should have gone with that, and a throttle body spacer, and a cold air pulled from inside the engine bay intake, and some fuel line magnets, and a Tornado, but keep my stock MAF/headers/exhaust.
Sorry fellas...been looking at real estate Deeds in SW Texas all morning - dates ranging from 1870-1910. I need some laughs damnit!!!
Back on topic...I cannot back Charlie's comments enough. I'm glad I spent the ~$400 to get Mike's tunes. Well worth the money.
I have the 5 Star custom tunes also on the X3 and I,m real happy with them Mike does good work
Got an 4 th tune 91 octane performance 2 weeks ago Its a tad faster than the 87 perf. and even pulling 1000 lbs trailer for 100 miles and playing got 20.3 mpg. on over 400 miles driven.
but at the present can,t justify running the 91 fuel at $ 5.68 a gallon.
The performance between the 2 is very close.slight change in shifts as well.
