Opinions on Volant Cold Air Intake?
I've done a lot of searching, and haven't found too much on them. I know that K&N isn't the best over the stock V10 intake, but I was wondering what everyone thought of the Volant one?
The Volant is closed off and seems to pull more cold air then a K&N.
Thanks!

Somebody on here had one, and couldn't get it to fit right so they didn't use it. I can't remember who it was. Hopefully they'll see this and chime in. Other than that, I can't help you. I want to ZooDad my intake and that's all I care to do. I've got better things to spend $300 on......Especially for a whopping 6-8hp.

I've got a volant CAI on my 2005 F150 4.6. the install was simple, (about an hour and a half) My gas mileage didn't improve but I did see a slight gain in power. It also sounds like an old 4 barrel carb opening up when you put your foot in it. It also looks real nice under the hood. I'm pleased with mine.

I never look under the hood except when doing maintenance
I never park at work or play with hood up for people to see if, or if not, the gutz look real nice
I never spend $100+ dollars to make the noise of the vehicle LOUDER
I never spend $100+ dollars on a part that will never pay back in fuel savings (as it is advertised to do)
I never spend $100+ dollars on a part that the dyno shows has no net effect, benifit or gain....
The factory intake system only costs $30 to $52 thousand dollars and replacing it with a louder, ineffective part seems kinda silly to me....
But hey...That is just me....
Please Keep Volant, K&N, or Air Raid in business... I think my stock portfolio includes a few of the aftermarket main players Grin
If this ticks any of you off...grow a thicker skin
I am the first to say that they your bucks$$$ and you are an American...free to spend them howerver you please!

I think most of us (well, at least me) are used to seeing gains with an aftermarket intake. On any performance car - it's one of the first things you do. It's always one of the cheapest mods, and it almost always gives the best results.
It's just hard to actually think that the factory did a good job on this stock unit on the V10. I know that an aftermarket one is mostly a waste of money. I know that. I also know that it may mess up my MAF. However, I cannot stop thinking about changing the stock intake.
It's in my blood. I can't stop it. I need to mod it.

Its worth $250 to me not to have to mess with the awful clamp on the stock filter set-up. Having to realign the band with the plastic pieces that hang on the bottom filter housing is a pain. It was easier after I cut of the plastic prongs.
My K&N FIPK is much less hassle. Don't over oil it and your fine. I clean my MAF a couple times a year anyway, so no big deal.
$40k for a truck, $250 is a drop in the bucket.
