My intermittent wipers (79 Bronco)do not work properly; when turned on they won't turn off! I have to shut off the ignition at the exact time they are in the down (park) position then turn the switch to "off". If I don't get the timing right, the wipers continue once the ignition is turned on again. Has anyone seen this problem? Also won't work on the intermittent side- when switch is rotated counter clockwise to the intermittent position, the wipers continue on the slow speed.
The switch has been replaced, and the intermittent module box thing is new also.
Help! Any ideas would be appreciated-
Thanks in advance-

There is a switch built into the wiper motor called a park switch. It closes when the wipers are in the park position. When this switch goes bad it does what you are describing. Years ago I was able to disasemble a wiper motor and repair the switch. Otherwise you will need to buy another motor.
Thanks for the responses- I thought the intermittent box/relay/harness system was the same for trucks from 73 thru 87... I ordered mine (Ford part) and it matched up by part number with the application. I know the switch itself is correct.
Wow, never thought of it being a problem with the motor itself. Thanks for the info; I gues I will price a motor and replace it and see if that corrects the problem.
Much thanks- isn't this a great site? Never thought there were that many sickos who love Fords out there...
