I was going 7-8K miles between changes. Now with the dual HPOP's, I'm changing about every 5K. Oil tends to shear faster with dual HPOP's, so that's why I switched to more frequent intervals.

10,000 without bypass filtration, regardless of oil being mineral/synthetic.

I go about 7k with just an FL-1995 on Rotella Syn. Next OC I'll do a UOA and see how she's doing.

7,500-8,000 on Schaeffer's synthetic, run with oilguard bypass filter & Used Oil Analysis Reports. This was my lasted UOA after pulling our 32' 5th wheel 4,000 miles.

I've been hanging out at about 12-13K with 5w40 synthetic... now hoping to see if I can make it a 15K stretch. Running OilGuard's bypass system and Schaeffer's 9000 series 5w40.

So if you send Schaeffer's a sample of your used oil they will analize it and let you know how long it could have lasted?

Enlighten me about this... I am interested in finding out how long I can push my oil changes...

Sorry for the

Yes,

There a quite a few companies thet do used oil analysis (UOA) test. Schaeffer's, Blackstone Labs, OAI, etc.... Schaeffer's cost $9 each if you buy a case of 6, IIRC Blackstone's cost about $22 each and OAI is around $22 each also.

Just take a sample at your next oil change and send it in. Each lab has a different format and some supply more information than others. Best to post your first analysis to get to understand some of the details, but after a couple they are easy to read.

Great indication of the health & wearing of the motor.

I should clarify that my report is from using Schaeffer's synthetic blend 15W-40. Jamie & Pete are running the full synthetic 5W-40.

Which Bryan, Texas are you in? The one North of Dallas or the one South? Either way they are both pretty close to the North Texas Powerstoke Rally on 3-5 Oct. Gonna be a blast........

Allen you are exactly right. They will test your oil and give your change interval.

The procedures are as follows.
1) Send in a sample of your current oil and get a base line.
2) Run Schaeffers 5,000 miles and drain it. No test needed. During this time Schaeffer will start to clean up the motors. This oil analysis does not look as good for this reason.
3) Run it 7000 miles and do a UOA. Make sure that you tell them you want to extend your drain intervals. Then wait to hear back from them. '
4) Then just follow what they recommend.
5) Take other sample after the recommended mileage
6) Continue this untill they tell you to drain it.

The longer you run with Schaeffer's the longer you will be able to extend you drain intervals.

A stupid question-why the need to dump the first batch at 5,000? An analysis would be cheaper and give you data if you really were "cleaning up" the motor.

I just put my first batch of Schaeffers 15w-40 synthetic in two weeks ago with a Mobil 1 extended life oil filter. I was hoping to avoid getting a bypass filtration system. I am going to drain and change at 5k and send in a UOA. Im caught wondering if an oil bypass system is worth it. Just more crap to change. And theyre expensive.

But if Im going to ad one Id like to do it on the next change...
