OMG Jim, he is soo cute and fluffy! Nice coloring.
About how big is he going to get?
Robin - Yes, he sure is a cutey. His coloring is what they call a "blue merle". He should only get to about 60-70 pounds. They are not short dogs, but they tend to be a bit lean and lanky.
Hey Jim...beautiful puppy...I had a friend who bred Aussies years ago.
Does yours have different colored eyes??? Some of hers did...I guess it's a random occurance.
(I haven't had an Aussie before, so I'm learning this stuff now... )
There's three main colorations for Aussies, tricolor, blue merles and red merles. The tri's all have brown eyes, I believe, but it's pretty common for the merles to have different colored eyes. Ours has two blue eyes, but of his two litter-mates that were also merles, one had a blue right eye and brown left, and the other had a brown right eye and blue left.
I guess it's not a good idea to breed two merles though, as the merle gene is a recessive gene, and if you get a puppy with two copies it can lead to lack of pigmentation and eye problems such as blindness.
All these puppy pics.
I would like to share one of my favorites. This is my baby Cory when he was about three and a half months. He's 5 years old now. Please excuse the quality. It's from an actual photograph that I scanned. But the color is true. He positively glowed when he was little.

That is quite a striking color - what kind of dog is he Robin?
He's an Irish Terrier. We call him red dog sometimes. He has two coats. When long he is a lighter shade or fawnish color like on a mastif. But when he is fully groomed and his fur is short he is that bright red. I don't typically groom him often since it is a bit tramatic for him. The fur is not clipped off, but rather stripped which is a fancy way of saying pulling or plucking the hair off. He also does not have what you call touchable fur. He is very rough to the touch. Feels great on your bare feet though!
