What scanner for '92 obd1?
You need to buy a 30-dollar scanner from Advanced Auto Parts. It's made by Actron, and it strictly uses the pre-existing computer on your car to troubleshoot the engine and give you the codes.
I had Autozone 18 months ago hook up their expensive Actron 9135 model scanner, and it blew out my computer totally. What pissed me off was the fact that the engineers at Actron acknowledged this problem when I called to complain -- as if they couldn't have designed it the right way in the first place. That was six days of hell. I had to go to the boneyard to get a PCM. I was lucky they even had one too!
Avoid the newer Actron testers that are designed for OBD II computers. They are dangerous for OBD I computers, and if not hooked up properly, will surely burn out your Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Make no mistake about it.
The model actron tester you need is a small one (forget the model number) but again, Advanced Auto Parts surely sells it for 30 dollars.
Hope this helps.

Summitracing has a line of multi-function digital gauges/computers now, maybe one of these will provide the info you want, they function much the same as the G-Tech gauges used to measure acceleration and 1/4 mile times and such.
P.S.: I have a Tweecer that plugs directly into the EEC-4 diagnostic port and provides realtime output from all sensors and other computer functions, and it doesn't calculate MPG...though I bet it could be done. This package cost $550 and requires a laptop to operate, but it's a tuning tool and not intended to provide a full time display.
