Hey Brandon.... Does your new shiny come with a heavy duty voltage regulator and rectifier like those offered at the Quick Start website? Or is that not really necessary to go that far?
BTW.... DC's Ford Blue powder coated alternator sure does look good, too!

yes, after talking with them this morning it was confimed that the internal regulator, and the rectifier are heavy duty.

Yes, The chrome alt. doesnt have the upgraded wiring included, so I am going to make that myself, and aslo find a 225 amp ANL breaker.
The ambulance package came with dual alternators, I was told by the dealer that they cant order the bracket for the second alternator for some BS reason...Im sure you can find it if its somthing you want to do though.
I went with the 140A version from electric start, I am very happy with it. However, if the DB is essentially the same by all means. Hope with the upgraded wire it solves the problems. I will state that the trailer shouldn't be drawing much if anything from the alt., the back feed from the trailer charger might be taking it out. But think of this, even with a trailer battery at 10V, you have a difference of say 4.5V, with the distance of wire, probably looking at least .5 ohms or so. Max current draw in this situation for trailer would be 9 amps. This is the reason I went with 8 gauge to the trailer plug at the back to help improve the charging efficiency.
I too have added a larger feed wire off of the alternator to run parallel with the stock harness to the driver side battery. I have quite a bit more going on as well, but for a few bucks at any parts store a 3' section of 4 gauge will solve many issues with charging.
O.K, since I was outside taking pics of my shackles for another thread, I figured I would close this one out with the pics of my new alternator.
I ordered the DB electrical 200+ amp Chrome alterantor last Monday, and it arrived last Thursday. I installed it right after it arrived, and drove the truck all weekend. I will say that I do think this will solve my issues. I, of course, trickle charged both batts last week before the install, and when I turn the key on and start the truck my FASS fuel pump has a crisper whine to it, even while the GPs are activated. The windings inside this alterantor are HUGE. I am very happy with the purchase...... so far.
EDIT: the test sheet that was included with the alternator showed that it put out 214 amps at 1250 RPMS
