does anyone know why the injector model numbers are different from 03-05
there are 2 part numbers they are the same except for the first digit

3c3z-9e527-ebrm that is only for 2003? why?

the other number is 43c3-9e527-ebrm what is the difference. can i use these. in my 2003.build date 5/03 i thought a 6.0 is a 6.0. correct?
please help me out. thanks.

I do not know why the # is different, but they will fit the 03. I replaced my whole set a couple of month ago, and when I received mine I was so pissed- " $!#@$! I got the wrong thing again! - but after some research , they are the same....

Not sure on the why part of your question, but the injector part numbers have been updated from what you have...

Injector 2003 - 2004 3C3Z-9E527-ECRM
Injector 2004 - Current 4C3Z-9E527-BRM

O-Ring and Gasket 3C3Z-9229-AA

IF, and this a big IF, I remember correctly, the difference is that the later injector has a longer intensifier piston in order to reduce side loading.

yes i seen the new part number. but wait....... the high pressure oil pump is a different number also. what do you think about that.? a tech told me that the oilpump is different and i dont want to mess up my motor. by the way this job is going so easy . i just need the injectors now. i thought it would be a nightmare. please help. maybe the oil pump on the 04-05 is stronger?
because they still sell the 3c3z injectors. and the 4c4z injectors.

We have a parts manual online for free download. It's PDF. You can look up parts by make, model, year. or by engine serial number, or cross the International stamping/casting number to Ford. It's called the "2007-2008 Diesel Sales Reference Manual" Page 2 & 3 explain how to ID the engine.
Go to www.powerstrokediesel.com scroll to the bottom left of the page. Click on the book. Lots of good info.

The TSB with the new injector part numbers does not mention anything about the need to change out the HPOP when using the latest injectors. It only lists the injector part numbers for those that are currently to be used when replacement is necessary and at this time 3C3Z-9E527-ECRM would be the correct one for your truck...

ok so the tech somewhere in here that says if you change them all i can use the other number is wrong then. he says that if you change them all it is ok.

other tech says that you cant. because the hpop is different.from 03-04
i just wanted to get the new better up to date ones . they look the same
i wonder . do you know if the hpop is different in the 04? if thats the case then i guess you have to use the 03 injectors correct? thanks for talking.

Just like I mentioned earlier, I have an 03 and i replaced the injectors ( set ) with the newer ones. But yes, they changed the HPOP in the 05 6.0 , and that is a different pump. While the pump is different - it is a 4 piston / less wear - and the discharge line is different, the flow specifications comparable.
Just like I said, I'm running the new ones and my truck running perfect with them.
Check out the 6.0L bible, you'll see for yourself the difference.

Yes, it is okay to let it drain, it does the same thing, when your engine is running. ( I meant you have oil under the valve cover to lube the valve push rods, linkage, etc. )
Oh, and make sure, when you install the injectors, you lube the o rings with some oil, so they can slide in smooth without pinching them.

FYI...the injector clamp is self extracting and self installing. Oil the new o rings and torque the clamp bolt to spec. Before cranking the engine over remove the glow plugs and "bump" the engine to blow out any trapped oil/fuel that drained into the cylinders when you pulled the injectors. Before you attempt starting...turn the key to "on" 3 times for about 30 seconds each time. This will purge air from the system. Good luck.
