Ford HD trans
Anyhow, The trans thats that was last installed is a reman unit, not built by the trans shop I initially went to. (thats probably why it works)
Curiosity got the best of me, so I decided to run the numbers off of the trans tag. The Ford tag was replaced by a "remanufactured" tag as I expected, but I was supprised to find out that I have a "F81Z7V000HBRM" which is a Ford HD trans. Great right? Well maybe...
I"ll probably never know if the "HD" parts are actually in the trans until It comes apart being that It was remand.
Maybe Mark would know, but if it was remanufatured I'm thinking just stock non-HD parts could have went in the trans instead of the HD parts...or Is it somehow different, and would require the HD parts go back in?
I'm just trying to ease my mind, and accept this trans without the fear of it breaking everytime I drive the truck...

I found this info on the HD trans thanks to Grant (tdpower)

Edit: the link does not seem to be working but you can check it out. I'm pretty sure the 6U one is the heavy duty and the other one is a standard Ford rebuild.
EDIT: nevermind, I looked at it again, and that is the correct tag.

At least you got a ford re manufactured unit. I would call ford to confirm the two different numbers. Maybe Kevin can post the number on his.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts

According to the list in my first post, We both have a HD unit.
You tag confirms that. and you tag is from Ford right?
I was thinking that the tag on mine was from whatever company did the last rebuild??
I'm thinking of taking legal action on the shop that attempted to rebuild my last trans. After two unsuccessful attempts to rebuild mine, he told me that he bought a crate reman from a company out of Orlando. Well, it looks like he put in a spraypainted junkyard trans.
Thats what got me started on tracing the tag numbers. Now I'm hoping he did get a JY trans, and that reman shop didn't gut a HD unit and put in the stock weak parts.
Maybe I can get something out of the first shop, and get this trans rebuilt if infact all of the Ford HD parts are still intact.
Here a pic of the trans that raised an eyebrow about it just coming out of a reman shop. It looks like dirt in the casting holes....I would think that the case would have been hot tanked and super clean, not still dirty.
