i have a problem frying alternaters in my 70's 4x4s. i love runnin through mud and that usually leads me through plenty of water. any ideas how i can keep from having to replace my alternaters so often?
thanks for the reply but "tread lightly" isn't something i practice unless johnny law is in the vicinity, and no it mounts up by the head on the passenger side, my problem with water may just be the size of mud hole i'm trying to go through, i almost always get stuck, usually up to the headlights in water. one of theses days i'll build my truck big enough to get through some of those holes only to get myself stuck in a much bigger hole.........
I believe K-mart has a waterproof alternator for the serious off-roader for 250 dollars. That is where I get all my parts. Defintely the best after-market stuff out there. My Yugo is in top running form because of K-mart.I went through a puddle last week going 25 mph. My alternator never missed a beat.
The above post is what I get for leaving the computer on at work. 4xF250 please disregard the above post. I do not know about a waterproof alt and would not have posted a reply.
