Question 1950 hood latch question

Well, not so much about the hood latch but where it latches onto. Is there supposed to be a groove there or is this all wear and tear?

Post a picture of the part you have a question about if you can. It'll help us to see if the part is worn or missing.

Well, here is the area where the latch latches onto. The picture is taken from above the front passenger fender, staring forward. You will notice the back of the grill in the lower part of the picture, and the radiator is to the left "off- stage". The groove is what I wonder should be there at all.

No idea what the hole is for, there is a matching on on the other side of the panel (driver's side).

I'll have to take a look at the plates on my panel and F-2 tomorrow.
