Went to run my 88 F250, (auto 4x4),the other day and tranny fluid started puking from the dipstick! Fluid smells burnt and I know its in need of a fluid/filter. Will that fix the problem or is it something more?? This is one of my plow trucks and not a daily driver. Moved it today and same thing!
I would check the vent on the trans, if it is stopped up it can puke out the fillertube. I had a truck come into the shop once and a "dirtdobber" plugged the rubber line on the vent with dead spiders and dirt, and it puked out the tube.
If ok check the cooler flow to see if the lines or cooler have a restriction.
Remove the rear coolerline and put a piece of rubberline on the line the other end in a bucket, start the engine, it should have about 1 qt in about 20 sec.
