My drivers side A/C seat turns off after a minute or less. When I try to turn it back on it won't come on heat or A/C. If I turn off the truck and turn it back on again it will come back on for a second or two and back off it goes. There must be some type of self resetting circuit breaker. Any ideas where to start? Thanks.
I had the same problem, turned out to be the blower motor. I had a dealer do it, but would probably opt to do it myself now. It was expensive, around $350 if I recall. They took the seat out to do it, not sure if it can be done from underneath leaving it in place or not.
My AC seats are not functioning correctly also on my '05 Navigator. Just so I can understand it more, the AC seats each have blowers in them that circulate air through the seat perforations in the leather? Do the seats get air from the main car AC system or do they operate independently from the car's AC system?
The drivers side does not cool even after two hours of it being on. I took to two dealers and they said the AC seats work fine. My wife and I are not crazy. How do I try to convince the dealers that the blower or whateever else is not operating normally?
They have separate blowers. They don't ever really get cold. Did the driver's side work better at one time? I assume from how you wrote that, the p/s is fine? Over time the foam in the seats collapses which hinders the air flow, which might be why diagnostically they say everything is fine but you don't think it is working. The d/s will have this problem more so than the p/s because it is always being used. My '03 with 100k miles has much less flow than my '04 with 57k.
Thanks for the explanation. That does make a lot of sense. How can we help increase the airflow? Are there other switches or A/C ductwork that I can check easily? The d/s seat was better when we bought it. I have an '05 with 42K miles so it hasn't been used that much and I weigh only 180lbs. Car is well taken care of.
When you turn the switch on, you should hear a relay click under the seat and the fan will start. If you don't hear that, then it is not working. You can compare the noise to the p/s since it sounds like it is fine. If you do hear it, it is probably the foam. The real solution is to replace the lower seat cushion, people here have asked about how tough it is to DIY it, but gotten no responses. I would be interested in doing it, if someone would share the knowledge. Others here have had the dealer do it.
I do hear the fan and clicks. Since I am within warranty I will get the dealer to replace the foam. I hope they will do it. I will let you know and thanks for the helpful info...
Got the dealer to replace the seat cushion after a repeat visit for the same problem. They went ahead and replaced the cushion and other electrical parts related to the AC seat. I noticed a marginal increase in airflow and cooling of the seat. I am starting to think the 2005 model came with really weak AC seat blower motor. I rented a 2003 model and it blew really cold air thru the seats. I don't know if the model year correlates with the quality of AC seat blower motor used. Does anyone else notice the difference between model years of Navigators?
It turns out that the blower hose came off. I put it back on and now it works. I need to check the filter though because the airflow is low. At least it doesn't shut itself off.
