As other have said here, the main reason that you are down on power is those excessively tall tires. A lot of people do not understand the effect that taller tires have on the gearing of the truck and how that in turn effects the power band of the engine. Most likely your truck has 3.55 gears in it. With the OE size tires that came on the truck, the 35 inch tires have effectively raised the gear ratio to 3.04 gears. With this in mind, you can tune on the engine for a long time before you will ever get it running like it did with stock wheels and tires.

To get the power that you are looking for, you must change the gears first. Your truck being a 4x4, will require both the front and rear axles to be changed with new gear sets. To get back what was lost, you will need 4.10 gears. To make it a bit peppier, go with 4.56 gears. Good luck!

This is the best answer to your question! Well stated KingRanch! 4.56 gears will mathematically give about a 4.20 gear ratio. Save your money for gears, a programmer will not give you a big increase. 4.56s after I put 35" tires on mine was the best investment...only thing I really notice out of my programmer is that it changed my speedo and I could adjust my shift points!
