Stock draglink height

Tried to search this out but everything is lift related. On a 78 250 4x4 should the pitman arm and the steering arm be on the same plane or was there a difference in height? Reason being is I'm trying to figure out how much lift was added by the extra spring packs that the original owner had put on so I can figure what size lift spring I need to clear for my 37's. Thanks for any help

From the factory the pitman arm was level.

Ok that's what I needed to know thanks. With the adda leaves I noticed that it pushed the axle about an inch forward or so. Hoping a liftspring will pull it back to center.

Went and measured everthing. four inch difference between steering arm and pitman arm measuring to the ground. just shy of a two inch rake front to back. So if I went 6 inch springs, with the addition of the 460 over the 400 and a good ol redneck bumper it should give me clearance for the tires and a slight rake right? Do six inch springs give you a true six inches of lift over stock?

Another detail I left out, does it make a difference that I have a Dana 60 up front instead of a Dana 44 for the pitman arm and steering arm being level?

Adding leaves shouldn't have moved the axle forward. I'd look into that a little closer. If the drag link isn't level it wont turn as sharp one way among other things. There are drop down steering arms, steering blocks & drop drag links available for your truck. 6" springs will do just that, raise it 6". Adding a big block & bumper shouldn't drop it a noticeable amount, at least it didn't with mine.

I'll check it out a little closer on the front to back, I was comparing it to my 150 with four inches of lift. On first measure it looked like the 250 was an inch further forward then the 150. I know how to correcting the steering, I'd just never thought it was that much till I put a tape to it. I'll take it down to a good flat slab tomorrow and double check everything.
