lift height

Does anyone have some pictures of a 78 f250 with either a 4 or 6 inch lift? Also would like to know the tire size that you are running. Trying to plan some springs out. Thanks

This is my 78 f250 with a 6 inch skyjacker lift and 37 inch military tires. No rubbing when steering at all.

That looks awesome. Can 39 inch military michelins clear on a 4 inch lift, is anyone running something close to that? The measure out at 37.5 tall.

Blue 78 (swapped round headlights for square) with a Rough Country 4" and 35's. I bet I could off road the tires into the front fenders.

Red 79 with a Skyjacker 6" (front and rear springs, but still use the OEM rear block) and mil take off 36's and then 35's.

I'd guess room for 38's or 39's? And I bet with a little front edge fender trim for 40's?

I would say no on the 4" and clearing 40's, unless you seriously trim the fenders.

Go 6" and then maybe a fender trim or a 1" or 2" body lift?

If you're looking in to either the 4" or 6" lift from skyjacker, you will need the following to make it all work:
  • new springs up front/add-a-leaf with block in rear OR new springs all around
    • U-bolt kit for springs
  • extended brake lines front/rear
  • drop pitman arm
  • adjustable drag link
  • shocks

The above are all from skyjacker although you can have someone custom make you brake lines, up to you.

Optional items:
  • Steering Stabilizer Kit

For the 6" lift you WILL need to have the front drive shaft lengthened, along with the same for the rear to make it last. The front just won't be long enough, while the rear will work but it isn't advisable to leave it at stock length. Some of this changes with the variations of transmissions. I have the C6/NP205 which apparently sits farther back from the front axle than the other trannys, requiring the drive shaft to be a little longer.

I just did all of this to my truck, so I'm make sure you're fully aware of what all needs to be done. Do NOT go cheap on this stuff. I love the stance and height of my truck now, couldn't be any happier. The 38's fit the lift perfect.

I appreciate the for warning. I am well aware of what goes into a lift I have lifted a lot of trucks but just trying to plan out the ride height of this rig. It is a full restore and cummins swap so drive shaft/ brake line/ shocks and other stuff not a big issue as of right now because I am kind of redesigning that stuff to work with the boxed frame. I posted a build thread of progress so far if you are interested. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...d-rebuild.html Thank you for the information!

Gotcha! Many people haven't done it before so I figured I'd just lay it all out there. Sounds like you've got a nice build coming along.

Nope I couldn't find one that was an even 10". I think it may be the 16.5s version of the 10".
