That being said I don't see a part number for that filter if you want to replace it. You will most likely have to call them to get the filer part number, then you can buy it from them or any of their retailers. Their phone number is 951-493-7100.
I would ask them about using a Proguard 7 filter in your current air intake setup. I am sure that it will be a simple swap and it is a better filter and you don't have to oil it. The filter itself should be under $100 I believe.
I just did a little more research and it appears that the replacement filters are as follows
AFE-21-40035 (Pro Dry S media)
AFE-24-40035 (Pro 5R media)
AFE-72-40035 (Pro-Guard 7 media)
I would also recommend thinking about purchasing a pre filter. The are a sock that goes over the filter and keeps all of the big stuff out of the pleats. My old K&N used to get bugs and stuff like that stuck in the pleats that were very hard to get out. I put one of these on my new truck and I am very happy with it. Here are the part numebrs for them, along with what color they correspond to.
AFE-28-10011 (Yellow)
AFE-28-10013 (Black)
AFE-28-10014 (Blue)
Hi, I'm new to the forums so please bear with me. I work for Power Stroke Diesel teaching Ford dealers how to sell and compete with parts & service in today's demanding markets. This is not a commercial...this is fact. I interact with the engineering departments at both Navistar and Ford. I read posts where enthusiasts spend big bucks on induction systems, air filters and prefilters... and they have their place in some applications. These filters have been tested by the various diesel engine manufacturers and the conclusion is always the same. For street use there's a risk of "dusting" the engine from dirt ingestion. If the element requires an oil coating, the oil is sucked from the element in the first 15 minutes of operation and coats the inside of the intake tube. After about 10,000 miles of operation the compressor wheel on the turbo will have a sand blasted appearance. Don't get me wrong...I like selling engines but, there is a better way... Ford came out with a filter retrofit kit for 99.5 to 2003 7.3 with the Donaldson "Power Core" element. The same filter media is used in the M1A Abrams tank to enable it to run for long periods of time in sand. The filter for the 7.3 will flow same or better than the high performance filters while holding up to 3 pounds of dirt. Kit part number is Motorcraft FA-1759 and if you shop around can be had for about $250.00 It takes about a half hour to install and provides the best of both worlds...OEM filtration AND high performance air flow.
I've been to the big shows where companies like K&N have their huge demo machines, and try their best to educate their dealers. One of those displays that I got to play with had a Wet filter and a gauge. I can't remember the number or measurement, but I think it equaled at least 60 in hg. And no oil passed through the filter and into the next element.
Part of this demo was to show that K&N filters are not damaging the MAFs as dealerships are claiming, part was just cool. Miss-maintenance will probably cause some oil to get through, but if you follow the directions it doesn't happen.
I would like more information on that filter though. It wouldn't happen to be NBC rated would it?
Ok thanks, I called them last evening and placed order for the filter, it costs about $60 including shipping.
Now, getting back to my old filter, it was blue when I bought it first, now after two washes it is black and white!!!! I don't trust it too much. I guess 60K miles it has done it's job, I will keep the old one as backup and put in the new one as it arrives.

I agree...a GREAT setup from FORD. Now if they would offer it for the 5.4L and V10 public that would be even better!

Isn't this intake system commonly referred to as the AIS. Click Here

Glad you were able to get one.
Did the part numbers I supplied turn out to be right? If not try to post the part number you ordered in case anyone else comes across the same issue.

Could not find the part number for that. It is best to call them and let know your model. The cheaper of the two models (similar to mine) is about $10 less than the other and it is dry filter. Mine is oiled filter...
