OK guys, need some help here. On my '94 F-350 I have what is called a "heavy duty" flasher module, but I suspect that it may be little more than standard duty. When I hook up a trailer, the turn signals flash so fast that they are almost not visible.
Is there a tru "Heavy Duty" flasher available for this truck? It did not come with the towing package, so I don't know if a different flasher module was offered in that application. I have replaced the current module with a new one - same part number and size (Lt. Blue victor I think) and have not had any improvement.
The fast-flashing gets even worse on a couple of my trailers where I have both low and high mounted lights. You can't even tell that the flashers are working!
What flasher module came with the Towing Package prepped trucks? Does anyone else have this problem?
If your lights are flasshing fast, you have a HD flasher. If your lights are flashing slowly, you have a standard flasher with too much load on it. there are different types of flashers besides OEM and HD
I replaced the module on the front of the fuse panel, it was marked as the "Turn Signal Flasher". I replaced it with another Wagner BP224TT (blue plastic and marked as Heavy Duty). I looked behind the fuse panel and there was another flasher module and it was a smaller, metal cased on that was a Wagner 552 (not marked as heavy duty) and carried a Motorcraft Part number stamp on it (D2AB-13350-AA). The one behind the fuse panel is identified as the Hazard Flasher by both my owners manual and my Haynes shop manual. I replaced it with a blue plastic HD flasher module (actually the one from the front of the fuse panel) and it made no appreciable change. The lights may have slowed enough to be visible now, but I think that had more to do with the fact that I was working after dark. I just happened to have the truck hooked up to one of our trailers that has dual rear llights, and my wife said that while it was still daylight and she was following me she could not see the turn signals as they were flashing that fast.
I am confused. Both of my other trucks don't seem to mind having dual rear lights, and (even tho they are Chevies) it looks like they use the same flasher module.
Am I missing something else here? A possible ground somewhere, or is this just the nature of newer Ford trucks?
