ct registration question

im stressin out over somthin that may be minor or major cause dmv is confusing with there regs and what not. i just bought my seconed ford truck. its a 1988 f150. the guy i bought it from seems to have bought it from a guy in ny, who had previously bought it in massachusetts. so i got the tite and it is a mass title, meaning the last state it was registered in was mass. am i even going to be allowed to register this thing,or do you think they will give me hell for all that? any input on this would greatly, i still need to talk to dmv and everything, but with work and i havent had time. i just pray i can get it on the road here. sorry for askin for input on stuff like this but, i cna buy vehicles all day long and this stuff somtimes becomes an after thought, i guess its part of being young and learning though

What makes you think they will give you a hard time??

I am not in CT, but I don't see why you couldn't register a vehicle in CT with a MA title...

If it is the NY part of the deal the DMV doesn't need to know that and I don't believe they would care.. The important part to me is if you have the title with the owners signature..

My 2 cents

The DMV will probably give you crap, but only because they are the CT dmv. I hated them so much, one of my deciding factors in leaving, aside from the fact that all I could afford there was the rust that fell off the older cars.
It'll be just like registering an in-state vehicle, just bring them the title, they give you temp tags to go and get the emissions and rust-through inspection, then go get your regular tags.

yeah ct sucks for everything. i know i gotta go through inspection and the whole process. but whats concerning me is the fact the last owner that i bought the truck from, his name is actually signed on the title cause there is no place for him to sign it, last person that had it in new york never had it on the road (the guy in new york) but his name is on the title. i dont know im gettin worked up over it but probably shouldnt. im going to try and use an assignment of ownership form, and a bill of sale. my big concern is the fact the name on my bill of sale and other forms that i will try will not match the signature on the title. and once again ct sucks i know, only holding me back is being youg and have so many friends and good memories, but i will be moving to north carolina within a year hopfully, partly why i need this truck. thanks all

They are going to tell you that the guy in NY needs to get the title swiched to his name first or you are going to have to get a notorized bill of sale from him.

Generally...private owners are required to pay their state sales tax and get a new title...even if they never register the vehicle. If the New York guy was not a dealer...he should have done this.

Contact the CT DMV or your insurance agent with your questions/concerns. I'm sure they can answer your specific questions and help you get through the hurdles.
