You will need to get a breaker bar on the crank pulley bolt to hold the engine with loosening and torquing that bolt. I have used an impact wrench before but that was out of the truck.
my girl came by yesterday after posting so i havent had a chance to get back out and work on it again till this morning. i must be doing something wrong... i have a breaker bar on the crank pulley nut and the HPOP gear is still spinning. i thought maybe it is a left handed thread but i very soon found out it is not (definitely feel it getting tighter). i feel i am so close yet so far! helppp!
anymore ideas/tips/tricks?
EDIT:
ok after some more pulling, grunting, and breaker barring i got it off! the pump is sittin in the garage and the oil is drippin in the pan. i am now following Cody's step #38 - sit down, relax, and crack a brew!
ya know... if i didnt have bad luck i dont think i'd have luck at all! i pulled the pump out and set it on the core support so i could jump down (i have a ranch hand bumper so it makes for a nice place to stand and work on stuff) and swap the fittings. however while moving down the bumper and jumping off i rocked the pump enough to where it 'rolled' off the core support and on the concrete floor. at first i thought everything was fine but after closer inspection the 37* sealing face on the 90* fitting took a nice whoolap and there is no way (i dont think) it will seal and i am NOT doing all this again bc i want to find out if it will leak.
Question... i know on one side this is a JIC fittings, what about the other side? is it a standard pipe fitting? anyone know if i can even find this stupid thing by itself? or will i have to buy me another pump just for the fitting?
BTW... glasseater, i am really sorry for hi-jacking your thread. i didnt really take notice until now but it all kind of fit in the same topic and maybe someone will find this helpful in their endeavors! i will start a new thread if you would like me too!
This single fitting will be a 90degree fitting # 5 "male boss" (sometimes called # 5 o-ring) on one end of the 90, and a # 6 male JIC on the other end of the 90. Our local hydraulic shop would label such a fitting as 5MB-6MJ90
so i looked it up on Surplus Center and this is the fitting i get...
which according to them....

however... on Swamps site it says a #5 Male boss (or o-ring fitting and all i am finding is #4 or #6, no #5. and it states SAE, not Male Boss!

haha it's fine man use this thread as much as you want, it's all related and here to help people!!!! by the way yes that is the fitting
Jason, relax brother. I emailed you already, but if you didn't get it. I have those fittings all day long. Between Rodney, and myself, you should be okay. LOL Good job Rodney.
thanks a ton fellas! i was worried that these fittings are from Ford or IH only but if they are readily available i will run by my local hydro shop tom and have them make me a HPOP pressure gauge as well as the fitting!

Okay, now you suck.... I want one of those manual gauges too. But I never think about it at the right time. I have the DiPricol electric on that plugs to the ICP sensor, but a manual would be alot cooler. Good luck man, let us know how it turns out.
well i hope the 1831449C91 is correct because it is the one i just finished installing.
speaking of... i have a two prong connector on the driver side of the engine. i cant figure out what it plugs into! i thought i thought of everything! lol
