Has any of you guys installed a Vintage Air A/C in your trucks. If so what size condenser did you use and where did you mount it. I received my vintage are unit and forgot to order a condenser for the unit. Cheers Paul
Mine measures about 22 inches x 16 inches ('56 f100). If you call them and ask for a tech; they will be happy to help you and take your order. 1-800-to-cool-u or vintageair.com.
Mine is like 26x19. it completely fills the space in front of the air dams, behind the grill.. the two bolts thru the air dam on each side secure it. this was custom made for me, as the radiator is INSIDE the rad support to get room (460) for the electric fan.
The one that came with my vintage air super Gen II system is labled as a 39-40 ford condenser. part #03040-VFC. It is 17"X19" and covers the stock radiator just perfect.
When I mounted mine a Vintage Air tech advised me to mount as close as possible to radiator, so I removed the cross braces in front of the radiator support and installed a piece of allthread between the tops of the radiator support for strength. This allowed me to mount it flat against the front.
I think you may have gotten lucky, the ones available from your local A/C shop are probably of a higher quality and generally a little cheaper, you can just look through their catalogs and get the size you need, just my .02
