Recently, my service engine soon light came on, so i ran the codes and got 2. the first is P1406 and the second is P0402. the first code says that the upstream or downstream hose to the DPFE sensor is clogged or off. I checked and neither the upstream or downstream had this problem. the second says there is excessive EGR flow. I thought becuase of both codes being thrown at the same time that the DPFE might be bad, so I replaced it, but my SES light is still on. any other thoughts on what to do? I have the V10, and have a little over 76,000 miles.
Did you clear the codes using the scanner ??? You said that the light never went off---or did you mean that you cleared the codes and the light came back on ??? Start the engine with both hoses off of the sensor. You should feel slight pulsing pressure at both hoses. Rev the engine--the pressure should increase. If you don't feel anything, then your orifice tube is clogged. You can try pushing some fairly stiff wire down the tubes to try and clear them out, or if you can't, you will have to replace the tube. If everything feels normal, your replacement sensor might be a dud.
I have not tried testing the pressure...in fact, i've never even thought about that. i'm a little embarrassed. good idea though. i did try sticking some wire down the tubes, i didn't feel any clogs, but then again, it was fairly difficult sticking the wire down the tubes. i just replaced the sensor today and cleared the codes. i'll let you know how it goes. thanks a ton for the help.
