My experience with Jasper was less than stellar. I purchased a Monster Box built by Jasper for my 97 1 ton. supposed to be the best. THREE FAILURES in 44,000 miles. we were traveling through the Northwest and after each failure it was 2-3 weeks of down time waitng for the warranty approval, parts to ship, etc. Then anywhere from 2-6 months for then to send me a reimbursment check because the shops, recomended by Jasper, required I pay them up front because they said Jasper liked to delay payment as long as possible and they didn't want to get hung out on money. I would walk away if possible. The three shops I delt with were great. Any one close to Enumclaw Wa, go see the Power Shop, they are great. Bob Reiley of Deiselsite, original supplier of the tranny was great, backed me 100%. Jasper just sucked. just my opinion and experience. Barney
I've never heard anything good or bad about Jasper. Everybody on here will bombard you about getting a BTS or a John Wood Tranny. Either one of them are buletproof, but $$$ pricey! Just depends on what your plans are for your truck. What type of "upgrades" are on the Jasper? Is that $2500 before installed?

Where are you located, I have a built trans from TSI for $2800. I live in MN, if you are close to here, it might be worth it. They had one already to install so my truck was only down for about 6 Hrs.
Hmm, sorry to hear about your bad experience bfife, especially with a 4r100/e40d from Jasper. How long ago was that? They have a large portion of their facility in Indiana dedicated to this transmission so it really surprises me that there would be such a delay in getting parts or a replacement unit. Usually that is what they do, just replace the whole thing. It is also unfortunate that they made you pay up front, but with anything besides a franchised dealer this will likely happen. Jasper, like anyone else, has to get the unit back to their facility and processed before they issue a check. Since you were not a "regular" customer the shops probably just wanted to get paid up front in case there did up being any complication.
However, despite the issues, it will all work out in the end. Anyone else you purchase from will not have nationwide coverage like that, and will not have a labor warranty either. Might not need it either if you go with a BTS etc, but it's a lot more money to spend. I've installed many Jasper products, and recommended them to those who aren't seeing high hp modifications and everyone has been very happy. Of all the rebuilders I've dealt with, Jasper has been the best. 9 times out of 10 they will cover the product even if it was due to user neglect or a failure of another part that caused theirs to fail, the just won't cover the labor. They have a great nationwide network and system of local sales reps as well.
I've never installed a Ford/Motorcraft rebuild so I can't comment on how the dealer would compare, but might be worth looking into. I think you can get a quality service transmission without have to spend $4200+ on one uninstalled.

Not the first time I've heard of issues like this with Jasper.
It's interesting to hear the feedback from the consumer side. My experience may be better since I was at a single shop and always dealt with jasper from the same perspective instead of at a different shop with different people etc. I dunno.

Yes, it's a built trans, with better than stock parts. I doubt it rivals a BTS, but I can tell you it works better than the stocker. I've put about 35000 miles on it, chipped the whole time and either towing or plowing.
