if you want just the flash, best bet is to just talk to a tech, service advisers will want you to leave the truck and have it diagnosed before they do anything
The dealer I go to - had no problem. I just told the service writer, it had white smoke at start-up. I wanted the latest flash program - the one with Inj Ind Heat fix. I told them I will pay for it and its not warranty. I explained I know about the stick-on issues.
It was done in 30 minutes. Cost $68
The tech talked with me after the upgrade, said it was showing EGR issues - he knew I had it blocked off and disconnected. His comment was why just replace it with the bypass kit I said warranty?? He said that don't worry about it.. and if taken out it would never have to be replaced under warranty. Nice dealer ?
I'm getting the itch to reflash again... I have a late '03 flash on mine. I'm hesitant though because my mileage is pretty good, it just seems gutless down low and is really gutless when cold.
You forgot to add that you get a 2 mpg drop in fuel economy. My 03 had never been flashed, and I consistantly got 18 mpg highway and 16 in town. I now get 16 highway and 14 in town.
Since you have a 2005, I would not expect you to. The changes in programing that affected mileage were in your truck from the start. I posted this as a warning to the poster with a 2003 that had not been flashed.

Certainly a nice tech! Maybe this guy will cut you a deal to install the bypass kit for you.
Yeah, its pretty good, but I'm always looking for improvement. I'm making the first long drive since getting a SCT Xcal2 and Spartan's General Economy tune, excited to see the results....if I can keep my foot out of it.

Will do. After I find out what the tuner gets me I have a Banks Techni-cooler and elbow to put on, after that a set of 4.30s are sitting in the shop ready to go
