I have just finished installing Powerslot cryo rotors and Hawk LTS pads on the front of the truck. The rear brakes(drum style) don't need replacing. I need to do the "bedding in" process for the new front brakes which involves about 10 agressive "almost" stops to heat them up correctly.
Will I damage the rear brakes while bedding in the front brakes?
Thanks in advance for any input or advice.
You shouldn't do any damage to the rear brakes when bedding in the fronts. When bedding brakes, I try to do a few moderate stops from maybe 35-20 mph then work up to some moderate stops from maybe 50-30 then a couple of hard brake applications from 50-30 and call it good. Definitely let them cool off before coming to a complete stop, but you sound like you already know these things.
No, but after you're done it would be a good time to clean them, make sure the seals are good, and bleed them a little to take the fluid that's been sitting in the wheel cylinders out. It really gets cruddy after a while which leads to more problems.
