Ford 302 build first timer
So what i'm reading is that you can reuse your crank, rods , and so on but if i want a little more power i can throw in a cam, and install new carb to jack up horse power.

That is pretty much correct, but like anything that sounds simple, you have to make sure you components match. By that I mean you have to make sure your valve springs are able to handle your cam, what the specs of the cam is Roller or Flat-Tappet, what you plan on using your engine for. Just some of the few things to remember
