torque converter?

what are the symtoms of a torque converter going bad?
we have a chevy truck that makes a clicking noise while in park, and during shifts. somentimes when it's idling but not always, while we are driving there is no noise.
the clicks seem to be coming from the bell housing, but we are unsure of what could be causing this.
thanks in advance.

Maybe a loose or broken flex plate?

maybe, that was also one of our ideas, or the starter isn't jumping back all the way and it's rubbing or hitting... it's that even possible? any more ideas. thanks

In a Chevy a bad TQ usually shows up by hard shifting at 35-40 mph. In most vehicles revving the motor and not going anywhere.

I think you just happened to get something within the belt housing or a bolt broke free. I would remove the access plate and take a look.
