I am having trouble removing the power lock actuator in my 1990 F150 XLT. The drivers side is the one I am trying to replace. I can't seem to figure out how it comes out. I tried both with the window up (more room) and window down (easier to see inside of door.) My Haynes book is useless for this. The local Ford dealer charged me $113 for the part soI would rather not have them install it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I had similar trouble with my '91 FS Bronco. Drill out the large rivet holding the acuator in place with appropriate-size drill bit. The actuator will then come out through an access window in the side of the door (removal of inner door-skin is essential). When replacing the acuators I also overpaid for, use a simple nut-bolt combination to secure it in the same place as the old one. Make sure the bolt-head is low profile so the door will close properly. That seemed to work for me; hope it helps.
