All I have to say is..... Russ I like that avatar!!!! If you can make em "jiggle" I'd be LMAO!!! Very cool bud!!

But to lap or not to lap seems to be the question. I've had quite a few a "lap dances" if that helps turn the tide. Hmmm maybe not.

Good deal Hyp. Free is free and hard to pass up. Unless you bought the $300 of parts that went with it.

Russ, that avatar might be over the edge, but I ain't reporting it

Anyway... about valve lapping.

I remember a few years back here on FTE, someone either asking about, or telling about, lapping valves, and a couple guys ganged on up the guy like crazy.

I myself said "why not?" - my machinist who taught me how to r&r heads (complete with putting seats in, cutting them, valve guides, porting, you name it), definitely lapped everything he did.

One big reason, it was obvious when you have a valve guide out of whack - the dull gray finish where the valve meets the seat obviously shows you seat width, full contact around the radius of the valve AND the seat, and hey - it helps seal them immediately instead of letting them beat the roughness off.

But yeah, I'd lap the valves myself if it was me.
