hello everyone... i have 1980 f100 4x4 that i got the other day... seems to be a good truck it has a smaller lug pattern on the rear... i have seen them like that before... i just wanted to know if you can swap out the axles ... i know there are different splines in some of them... if any one has run into the same problem let me know what you had to do... thanks.

Its not a 5 on 5.5? I would have guessed that the 9 inch rear it likely has would be that way - my 81 F100 has one and the bolt pattern is the same as my 8.8s. A smaller pattern sorta indicates someone stuck in axles from an 8 inch....

yeah it's a 5 lug just a smaller pattern i don't why they done that you got to have 2 different rims i have a set of those aluminum rims that was on most 76 4x4's and i can't use them because of this lug pattern on the rear i will try and see if i can change the axles.

Some of the f100's had the smaller car pattern wheels. But I have never heard of a f100 that was a 4x4. I bet you have the original axle in the rear, and a f150 axle swapped into the front. Measure the width of your rear springs. If they are not 3 inches wide, then you have a 2 wheel drive truck that has been converted to a 4x4.
