Data plate should tell you if you have one.

if you cant find a plate, you can check the number of lugs against the name...
if you can't find a name, you can remove one of the bearings and take it to a place the services trailers... that should be enough to identify it.
It's probably something like this

generally speaing, a 5 lug trailer axle will have the smallest weight ratings from a particular manufacturer. Next are the 6 lugs (1 axle), then the 6 lug tandem axles, then the 8's (generally always tandem), then there are tri-6's and tri-8's along side of dual, tandem dual, and I've even seen some tri-duals...
simply, the number of lug nuts on the axle is a good indication of the weight rating.

I would agree. I would think a 5k axle would normally be 6 lug.
Is this a single axle small trailer? like a 6x10 or something?
