If one battery is failing can I just replace it, or do I need to replace both batteries, and why? Where is the best place to buy for quality and price?
It's always best to replace both batteries at the same time. The PSD requires a lot to turn that engine over for a fast and clean start.
Generally if one battery is weak the other is not far behind.
I replaced both of mine at Napa, I think that TJ Beggs also bought his at Napa but he ended up with some commercial heavy duty batteries if I'm not mistaken, if I am I sure that he will jump in and correct me.
Also, several other members will give you their favorite choice of batteries and I'm sure that they are all good.

Tim bought a couple of Napa commercial batteries with stud top posts. i know all this because I just bought a couple under his suggestionl. these batteries are big enough to power a small village!
Yep thats all true! they are larger but they do fit at least in my truck. They are availible with standard lead lug terminals but the whole reason I went with that style battery is to get away from lead terminals. I love the 3/8 threaded studs and battery cables with eyelet on them. Much easier to deal with.
Batteries used in pairs should be replaced in pairs.
