Optimas and Odyssey are overkill, but great batteries none the less. There are plenty of threads on this topic. Price to performance though its hard to beat a pair of regular batteries like Interstate or Motorcraft for the average user.

I have the red top on my mustang and i have left the inside lights on all weekend and on monday it started fine. So when my batteries go I'll get those for my truck.
I've only had my 06 for a year or so and am not replacing betteries anytime soon but figured I'd ask since I saw the thread subject.
I have always used Sears Die Hard Platinum. Mostly due to their warrany issues and my personal luck with them. (I have never paid full price for a battery except when getting the first one).
In my trucks I have always used the 850 to 1000 cca. My cars 650 to 750 cca depending on the engine its cranking. i.e. 4, 6 or 8 cyl.
So with all that in mind. I didn't see any mention of the Sears Die Hards.
This for a reason ? or as plain as simple indifference ?
I have never had a Die Hard make it through the warranty period. My time is worth something. Even if under warranty you still have to go back to Sears and spend an hour or two while they test them.
i had a sears gold once and it didn't last a year before it got replaced so like 69cj said you still got to spend and spend 2 hours getting it replaced.
Unless something has changed over the years, Interstate and Exide make the majority of the batteries out there. Die Hards are a typical brand that is made by others, I forget who now, it has probably changed anyway as these type of things get contracted out to the lowest bidder. I have never had a bad thing to say about Interstates own batteries. Wally world's on the other hand are junk. I don't know who makes them, but they are not worth the low price. This is an example of where you get what you pay for. Yet paying over a certain price point doesn't get you more, necessarily. Everyone has to decide that point on their own.
Off road use, loud stereo, winches, lights, etc all factor into that decision for you as you would be drawing more power, possibly with the engine off, for who knows what length of time. My truck basically stock will suffice on OEM or equilivant just fine. I would be just throwing money away. So that is MY price point to use. My time, as others mentioned, is worth alot to me. If I have to deal with a bad battery in a couple of years then I would be pissed off. The low wally world price would be gone from memory and I would be cussing them and getting no where either.
