Can someone make me feel better? Please tell me you are trying to build a truck in a garage smaller than 24' X 18'. I can't cuss a cat without getting fur in my mouth.
I just came in from priming some Darksider suspension parts. I have the frame hanging from the ceiling and had to hang parts from the frame, then set in the floor to spray them.
I need your motivational help to keep me from blowing up.
I know this isn't your problem, you probably had more sence that to start your projects in a CLOSET.
Just venting!!!! Thanks for listening.
You have more room than i had in my old house. I had to roll the truck in and out the garage just on rims because the cab roof would not clear the lvl overhead. Thats why i built my new house with all the room to spare! Good luck!
My one car garage has a 49 sedan in it. I work on my 51 outside and have had it under a halfassed tarp/carport last winter. This winter IM going to have to find a storage unit for it.
My garage is packed with tools and work benches not to mention parts for both vehichles and tires.
Oh yea.
I had to buy one of those 20' Truck Boxes for storage. I keep everything I am not working on in there.
I'm glad to hear that you guys have over come this obstical and moved on to better shops.
I have a very nice shop today but I did spend many, many younger years "at the curb" with cold, bloody knuckles wearing "Hefty Bag" Ponchos over my clothes to stay dry when we had weather. I didn't have it that bad compared to the snow-belt but shelter was welcome when I could afford it.
And I'd be out there from dawn to dusk.... amazing how youthful enthusiasm overcomes common sense.....
It's been over 25 years but, I have had to work in weather like rain and snow before.
The most memorable was when I didn't have a garage in Alaska and had to change out the fuel pump on my 1963 Mercury Meteor wagon in Feb. 2 feet of snow on the ground. -25° F. Had to shovel the drift out from under the car and out of the engine compartment to get to the fuel pump. Water in the gas had frozen and split the diaphragm.
That was an adventure I'd rather not recreate. I am sure some of the Canadian boys can share similar stories.
Side bar here, did you know that -40 Farenheit is -40 Celsius?
You know what they say...the bigger the garage..the more "crap" seems to find it's way into it. I always find a reason to keep dumb stuff, this spring I filled 2 small dumpsters with stuff I forgot I had, and decided to make some room....But that room goes away when you take an old truck apart.
This might be the beginings of a good thread...How to make the best use of your limited space.Hang in there, everybody gets to the point your at in a truck "re-build"...Heres a good tip; paint early in the morning and outside...fewer insects flying about to crawl into your wet paint.Good Luck!
yeah, don't feel bad. mine's 24x24 and ready to collapse. I have my Tbird in there, and I hope to get it rolling in time before it falls.....I'm guessing one more winter, maybe 2. The '48 sits outside getting a slow disassembly.
