Bad IP Symptoms

What are the symptoms of a bad or going bad IP?

Recently my IP seems to be making a lot of chatter noise, thats my guess is its the IP making the noise or what else could it be? Help would be appreciated because I plan on making it the daily driver soon....After I rebuild the transmission...

How does it run/idle any problems there....... have you checked the bolts that attach the IP to the gear behind the oil fill tube......

its running real good but the chatter is starting to worry me...Im not sure if its been there but I just started paying attention to it and wasnt sure if its just normal or not...When you mean check the bolts behind the IP gear are you meaning to make sure there tight?

I would check both the mounting bolts and the drive gear bolts.

If my IP makes any noise, I can't hear it over the motor noise.

Could it be the IP gear noise and a worn IP shaft bushing?

I checked all the bolts there all tight. I used a auto stethoscope and put it up to the IP and it has a steady diesel sound.. I put it up to the lines going from the IP to the injectors and they sound bad, I don't know if that's suppose to sound like it or not, Its a high pitched gear to gear sound on the line from the IP to the injectors....
