I don't think so Barry. All the sending unit does is monitor the pressure. I think his starting is either ground related or HPOP related, by the post above this one.
Yeah, that what I was thinking. It sounds like the oil in his HPOP may be leaking down. The extended cranking is needed to refill the HPOP before the injectors can do their thing.
I have had scaners on this limo coach and the only this that comes up is the oil back pressure problem. Which I don't think is very important. How would I figure out the possible electrical problem?

I'm thinking the HPOP also but I really don't have a clue how to resolve that or what to do period. Any trouble shooting advise is greatly appreciated.
No I don't have any codes yet. I will do another scan Tuesday when it gets out of the tranny shop.(don't ask!) I haven't had a chance to get the scanner back to do a scan since I installed the original split shop injectors.

I didnt read every single post on this....but Ford DID make a 98 Superduty in the same bodystyle as the 99 and up style, but just not in crew cab. Only thing available was a Xtra Cab, Supercab....whichever it's called. My friends Dad has one, it's a 98! I remember when he special ordered it, first one in town!
Can you get anyone to hook up a "real" oil pressure guage to verify that the oil pressure is good?. The pistons get cooled by oil jets and without proper oil pressure serious problems are around the corner.

Are you sure it is not just a late 98 build date? I don't think Ford sold any called a 1998 F series Superduty truck.

I'd fix that problem before continuing...
Is it possible to have the oil jets on only one side or bank working and at the same time the other bank not? I'm still trying to figure out how the previous owner melted down only the left bank and seized 3 pistons.
