I just picked up a 2001 Ex Limited 7.3 with 45,800 miles, loaded for $10,500 from a private seller. I looked for awhile, but finally found a great deal. Maybe prices are dropping...
Prices have dropped. I just picked up a 2000 Limited, 98,000 miles off a lot for $5,200. They just wanted it gone. It has new tires and was fully detailed. The downside is, I'll likely have to give my 95 Surburban with 220,000 away.
I personally see why the one listed on eBay in the first post did not sell. In today's market, he's asking too much for it. I bought a similar vehicle with considerably less miles on it in nearly perfect condition for thousands less. The diesel X's that were bringing 20k 8 months ago at auctions now bring less than half that amount. This fact is why I bought an X now. They are really nice vehicles and the bottom has fallen out of the market on them. Since I won't tow anything heavier than a couple of jet skis with my X, I opted to save even more with a V10 X. With no need to tow (have a diesel truck for that) the V10 made far more sense than a diesel considering my personal needs.
At auctions most 6.0's can be had for about 10k (or less, depending on the miles and condition) and the V10's range from 5k to about 10k depending on the year and miles. Personally I'm thrilled with my V10 X and it cost me less than what a high end used ATV or jet ski would have cost me!
So... If I waited I could have got one cheaper? I feel pretty good about the deal I made in March, and got them to give me money for the Expy. I would not have been able to use it on vacation, and definitely could not have towed my trailer last week. (Have I justified it enough)? However, I am still waiting for computers to hit the bottom before upgrading my Commodore 64 (HAHA)!
