Hoo Wee!!!

Just got back to the house from taking the truck on a full bore run. We ran a straitaway 300 feet in the dry. Had to stop using first gear--hit the chip too soon. Ran second and third in high range. Our only timed run at 300 feet-5.12 seconds UNOFFICIAL--and no mud. Ran like a scalded dog--can't wait till sunday!!!!

Update--Truck is not going to be black. Went to the paint store to get the paint, and they had some mis-mixed paint. Got some medium blue color for free! 2 gallons! So now the truck is going to be a medium blue--about the color of a Miller Lite can--imagine that... Number is 1799.

Last update, Truck is finished and loaded on the trailer for tomorrow. Painted this morning. Hope all goes well with the tech inspection. If anyone wants to come, this is the truck to look for. As a group we will be in front of the water hole. Numbers will be added tomorrow morning, to let the paint cure.

Todd I wish that I could have made it. The little storm that we had Sat night caused problems. I had to help a friend cut a tree off of his sisters house.

How did you do? Got pictures?

Not good at all. I think we started wiping a lobe off the camshaft during the practice runs the other day. Pulled the valve covers to re-adjust and found one pushrod not spinning while running--not good. Thought we would run it anyway, took it out for a couple of warmup runs on the back stretch, and blew a freeze plug out of the block. Too many bad omens--loaded on the trailer. Going to pull the motor this week, go back through all of it, and see where the problems are. Will have more break in time for the next close race which is in Richmond (Tallulah) in early Sept. Hope we can get it dirty over there.

Will keep everyone posted on what we found in the engine.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck. I am sure that you will get it straighted out.

Pulled the engine today. Found a worn lobe on #3 exaust, just as I thought. Going to tear down completely and install higher performance truck rods and have the valve train geometry checked by the machine shop. Will have it ready to go for Tallulah in early Sept. Should turn in the 6's for rpms and give us more performance.

Will keep ya'll updated.

Todd
