Does any one know what adverse affects to the Catalytic converter,O2 sensor, etc I may cause by running 108 octane("TRICK")racing fuel(it does contain lead).I am racing my 91 F250 4x4(460) in a mud bogg this Sunday in Central California.I am running a Whipple Charger and have been assighned to race in the Modified Class,I am looking for any addvantage I can get,(Some of the Modified Chevys are already in town and look and sound very strong),but I would like to know up front what I might be damaging.I bought 20 gallons, its sitting in 5 gallon gas cans, and my rear tank is empty, but Im nervouse about pouring it in. Any info would be appreciated.

it will also foul the oxygen sensor and then cause a misfire/rich fuel condition. dont use it in this truck.(unless you need a new o2 sensor any way,in which case remove the cat also for the race)"off road use only" remember to trailer the truck to and from the race. ha ha ha
I opted to not use the racing fuel durring practice runs yesterday.Another mechanic for the excavating company I am using on a project,is a circle track racer and reputedly excelent big block Guru.He was more than happy to buy the fuel from me and also mix up a witches brew additive that is not supposed to affect the O2 sensor or cat(as long as you do not run it all the time). He wouldnt tell me exactly what was in it,but it was a combo of nitro methane, and zylene,or tolullene. We only added about a quart to 10 gallons of 92 octane and advanced the timing 4 degrees from where it was already set.It ran stronger than it ever has,and I expect good results today. Most everyone running in the Modified class that I talked to durring the practice runs, had heard of the brew and most were running some sort or other of there own concoctions. No one seemed to show alarm.Time will tell, this is all a learning experience to me.
Now the hard part is learning how to remove the mud,I tried diesel squirted on all of the underside.but still spent 2 hours last night with a power washer just to get it clean enough to inspect components, the mud here dries like concrete.Oh well I guess thats the price you pay to have a little fun.

cant help with getting it off, just keeping it off. after it is all clean get a couple of cans of non-stick cooking spray, and cover every thing but the exaust.(duh)then future cleanings will be easier. lasts about 2-3 severe cleanings. friends also have tried WD-40,and diesel fuel with similar results. have fun.
ANY amount of leaded fuel will foul the "cat" and render it usless. You can buy unleaded racing fuel that's around 102 octane if I remember right. Nitromethane will mix with alcohol...but the little amount you added (less than 10%)is sort of like running gasahol. To really unleash the power of "Nitro" the "Fuel Dragsters" in dragracing run about 98% nitro...they also tend to self destruct on a regular basis. Anyway I hope your racing efforts turn out O.K. Good luck!
Well Im glad to say I didnt use the leaded racing fuel. The truck ran great on the addititive I used, and a quart really does make a diiference, when I switched back to my regullar(92 octain)fuel in my other tank,I began to to get some pre-detonation due the amount af advancement in the timing, but there was absolutely no sign of it using "The Brew". By the way Ford carried the day we won.
