im thinking of eventually swapping out the auto tranny in my truck to a manual i'd like to know if any one has any experince with swaping trannys and how hard it would be thanks
Jacob, this has been discussed many times before. The most common answer is, sell the auto truck and buy a manuel truck. The money involved makes it not worth the trouble.
But if you have enough money, anything can happen.
i would but i dont have the money now and i was thinking down the road but it is really hard to find a ford truck with a manual around here if you want a diesel and a manual you are pretty much stuck with a dodge or buying a brand frickin new ford (as nice as the farms dodge is with the cummins when it comes to pulling im not ready to stoop to that low and i like the 7.3 liters) i have found the same manual tranny used in the F250s for $2000 i know my cousin's friend has put a manual in a late 70s(i think) but what are the complications and how expensive can it be
With the rate that trucks are being traded in for econo-boxes, you might have a better chance of getting a truck with a manual. Around the Denver area, there's been a few now with the 7.3's and stick.
yeah now is the time to buy a truck but heres my other problem im only 16 and i dont have a job (yet) since i was kicked off my uncles farm and i dont really want to buy a different truck (i figure my dad will let me have the truck mentioned in my sig because of the work ive done around the house and the farm and i will use it more than he will)i was wondering because maybe down the road i would like to swap out the auto
I understand what you are saying. In the 70's they didn't have computers running the trucks. Now with all the sensors and stuff that the PCM need to keep the truck running, it would cost a lot of money to change all this around. You may get by with a doner truck to take parts off of.
