If you want full control of your trans to make it somewhat feel like a manual without a clutch, get a PCS controller for the transmission. If you have a laptop, you can control every aspect of the transmission.
i wonder if theres a place where i could buy a manual tranny pcm it would be really hard to find a manual truck thats a crew cab and long bed
I'd forget this in a hurry, nothing would ever look right unless you had a complete donor truck. Even the steering column would have to be switched to look like a professional job. Way more trouble than it's worth, and to what end? Something that can't win in a drag race, is a drag to drive around in heavy traffic, tough to talk on the phone, eat a burger and smoke a cigarette drink a beer all at the same time. Screw that?? Sticks are for race cars and Corvettes.
heres my theory for a manual i live in rural wisconsin and plan to farm so this truck will be for working and i will lose less power compared to an auto i dont smoke and we farmers have become very good at talking and driving my uncle drives a Self propelled forage harvester it has lots of buttons and is quite difficult to drive and i see him half the time driving with one hand and he does a damn good job my cousin (condona) drives his stick truck very well while talking and if eating i will put down my burger to shift or shift with the burger hand and i dont keep my cell phone in my pocket it sits on a hip holster very handy when driving and a manual will last much longer when pushing the mods and you just cant beat the thrill of shifting a standard and you gain some MPGs with a manual
Have fun, but remember without a donor truck it will end up being a cob job at best and be worth less dinero. But it your hearts set on it and have ball. I have not seen one post here about someone doing it and being happy, or sad, cuz I don't know if anyone has done it. Did you check the links some members put up for you?

Mark there is no way you will win with stick against auto in those trucks. thats why all the drag trucks duracraps and scummins are automatics.

if it looks like a cob job i can always upgrade it later besides it will be a work truck its just so damn hard to find a ford manual and a diesel let alone a crew cab long bed manual and a diesel whats the cost on all of the tranny upgrades you guys have done
Zero, first time warranty, second time favor from a pal. I have friends in the right places and sometimes the dice fall correctly for me. That mostly comes from spending all of my life in some sort of auto related hobby, mostly drag racing and it is kind of a one hand washes the other relationships you'll develop. If you can keep your pretend pals away from your wife......................LOL
i got it built by Brian when i went there it was like 4600
and i bet that unless you get lots of free parts you will end up over that amount.
sticks are ok, but i like my auto for sure.
think it over Jacob its not worth it. its been discussed here by few members and they give up when they added up all the parts labour , and belive me like it was said the bast way to do it would be with a donor truck, otherwise there is allways somthing missing, or not matching,
in your case you would have to get drive shafts made up, and trans cross member, unless you get another one just like yours....
and you can put 2 trucks with the same setup on a dragstrip and auto will win every time
im still thinking and i wasnt planing of swapping right now i was thinking of down the road and i wasnt going to race the truck(too much) i probbably am going to use this truck for towing/hauling
One last argument that a 16 year old young man might want to consider. Just when you finally get your arm/hand positioned just where you want it on that plenty fine lil gal sittin real close up next to you...........SHIfT.......
