I paid 1200 to have my 77 f150 shipped from south texas to New England. I would never sell my truck!! I had it in an enclosed trailer too! It was funny to see my f150 sitting underneath a $50,000 1969 camaro ss. That POS dripped some fluid on my truck, I was pissed. There was also a very expensive roadster and some other stuff. Quite a gathering at the grocery store where I took delivery of my truck. They were peeking at the expensive cars waiting to see what I had coming, then old blue came out and they were like WTF? Im like "Stand back!"
Do you have the information for this mover? I'll probably pay that much in fuel much less wear and tear on my truck and me. I will be going from Kalifornia to east Oklahoma and have already made the drive once, not looking forward to doing it again.
I used DAS but they are a broker. It is like a stock exchange: They post your vehicle (A to B) and independant truckers will take it or leave it. They only use bonded licensed people so dont worry. Oh and if one of the truckers so much as scratches a car, they will not be allowed to take jobs from them, so yeah DAS is good, but you will end up with Joe's National or something, just an FYI.
I would have it enclosed for sure. I had a Jeep Grand CHerokee shipped from NJ to NH (7 hours) and it was on the top of an exposed trailer. I had bird crap, bugs, grime etc slung backwards all over the jeep, it was quite a mess. The undercarriage was where the bugs landed. I mean its no biggie but if you like your truck and dont want people picking parts from it, I would go enclosed all the way!
Well, old blue is home again! The guy I sold it to just found out his wife is pregnant (again) so I bought the truck back from him for exactly what he gave for it. But hey, I got a free set of plugs, wires, cap, rotor, pcv, and an oil change out of it! Guess I need to change my sig again!
Even though there have been times I thought that I was ready to sell Burt, guess I would never really do it! I love that old truck. I actually learned my lesson when once I had a 74 F350SC; put a lot of time and money into it and sold it. I even tried to buy it back a year later but the new owner said "what are you crazy?!! I love this truck and drive it all the time?!!" At least the ol' girl had a good new home... Congratulations on getting your truck back!
