Well just thought I'd pass on the tradition to my son. This was like my first truck. I had a 1985 3/4 ton with a granny gear. His is a 1981 F100 Explorer one owner. Came with original owners book and window sticker.Same color. So I thought I'd pass on the Ford tradition to my 15 year old son.. I'm just as excited as he his. All original, one owner. New Transmission 30k ago and new Long block 60k ago. 300 inline 6. Air blows Cold just needs paint and wheels.
Now he has 1 year to fix it how he wants it. He already has over 700.00 bucks saved up from mowing yards. Now he's starting to work for the Texas Rangers <baseball team>. Anyway thought I'd share with you guys...
I myself have had 13 Ford trucks my current is this:
Burn some of that seven hundred on a palm sander (air driven) and a real paint gun, then look around for an automotive paint supplier in your area.
(I'm assuming you have a compressor)
LAST BUT NOT LEAST:
Take a look in the paint forum here at FTE, we have professionals and restorers in there with excellent info!!!
Yes, YOU CAN do your own paint, better than a shop.
The proof is right down there in that forum.
And like everything else you do, and do right - it gets ADDICTIVE!
When you get results that cost far less than having it done elsewhere - AND THEY ARE BETTER...
You'll never let a shop or a dealer touch your truck again.
Keep an open mind, learn everything you can here (we freely share), and don't be afraid to try new stuff you find out.
In a few months you'll never look back or pay someone else for what you can do yourself.
WE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO PUT YOU IN CHARGE
WE WILL EMPOWER YOU!
Whatever you want to do with your ride, you can find the way to do it here
I've stayed with FTE as long as I have, because I really do believe it is the right place. I started with an '82 F100, much modified,
with what I found out and shared here. I will never leave this place, if there is a single thing I can do for anyone.
Nice lookin' truck, it looks all up together from the photo.. ...don't see many that colour anymore....I'd keep it that colour, they are prob'ly more rare ya' know?
heck yeh wish more people would do it they are to good to just dump
But we gotta have 'em there to get parts off of. Dang- that reminds me, I need to go get that front bumber for $50. before something happens to it. Welcome to the forum srkr and that's a nice looking truck.
