Guys WOW!!! Thank you so much for the compliments. I love this place. Like I said earlier it's comments like this that makes saving Fords and passing on the tradition worth while. Thank-you!
Ok so, there are no emissions here in Texas on a truck this old,...Are yall serious on cutting out the muffler?
IMPORTANT Question.....
The truck if it hasn't been driven for over five miles on a warm day or heated up will randomly die from a dead stop when depressing the gas pedal, if you feather it it will go 70% of the time, otherwise it dies ,stalls. But like I said once you get about 5-10 miles on her no issues. Are there any cures for this or is it just cold natured? I would hate for my son to be in a hurry to go somewhere and leave the house and get broad sided because of a stall issue....Thanks

Hey, check out my youtube for many soundclips. Just click on the link in my sig and go from there. The trick to make a 300 sound mean is to kill the cats (I recomend having one cat just to make the air better to breathe). I love the sound of an I6 straight piped. My truck has a Flowmaster 44 and no cats (at least I think the first cat is gutted). If you try to just run a Flowmaster without touching the cats, that 300 CI motor will sound like a little Honda.
As my truck is now it sounds like a small V8 / Diesel / big I6. None of which I think is bad. I'm assuming your son likes it loud and mean?

Sounds like your accelerator pump is shot or possibly a simple choke adjustment.
Looks like all he needs now is a good exaust system!
Thats what you say now, but we are all junkies, we think all we need is one more hit, but after the exhaust, you are gonna say it needs a suspension mod, then after that you need windsheid visor, etc... etc...
BTW, I ordered a fully rebuilt carb by Holley (it was still the orginal carter 1bbl)from autozone for 100 bucks and it made a world of a difference on my F100 and was much easier for me than trying to rebuild the original (I tried and failed).
How do you adjust the choke? I'm Wrench stupid, Sorry.

It should have a little black round plastic box that has a kinda triangle shaped clip on the outside with three screws. You loosen those three screws just a bit and there will be notches on the top with lean/rich.
You'll want to go in the lean direction. Turn it until it opens and then just back it off to closed.
And retighten the screws.

Please don't take this wrong way,,, but treat me like I'm blind. Where would this black round plastic box be? Near the carb? I just dont know.
