I have an 95 F150 XL. Suddenly now that summer is here my AC is not working properly. It will not blow out the dash registers. It currently blows out the defroster but has on occasion blown out the floor register (not frequently). There must be some type of damper that is not being activated to direct the air flow correctly. Can anyone give me a clue as how to proceed to diagnose the problem. Thanks in advance for your help.
In most cases this problem is caued by a broken vacuum line under the hood. You will find one going from the intake to a vacuum reservoir with a line branching off and going through the firewall. This supplys vacuum to run the blend air doors.
Check this line carefully for leaks. If ok problem is broken vacuum lines under dash or bad mode control switch or bad vacuum motor.
My 94 just started doing this today. as I'm driving down the road the air suddenly shifted to the defroster vents. Cycling to off and vent will put the air to the rightvents for a few minutes. did you ever find the problem or does anybody have any other thoughts before I start looking for leaks under the hood.

I have a '94 Ford Ranger. I encountered this problem a while ago. It ended up being a simple cable adjustment. I needed to remove the glove box to gain access to the problem. The lever on the A/C control panel that adjusted PANEL, PANEL/FLOOR, FLOOR, FLOOR/DEFROST, DEFROST wasn't going all the way over to panel. (Well, it was, but it wasn't). I had to slip a cable through a sleeve a little bit. Almost like how a cable and pad brake system works on a bike.
