I Hope One Of You Guys Out There Have Heard Of This Problem Before, Ihave A 96 F1504x4 And When The A/c Is On Max And You Accelerate The Air Stops Coming Out Of The Dash Registers And Start Blowing Out Of The Defroster. And When You Let Off Of The Accelerator It Will Start Blowing Out Of The Dash Registers Again. Any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated.
If you read my post titled max ac shuts off you will see a couple of possible explantions. I haven't gotten into mine yet but I am leaning to BG03's advice that it may be a vacuum problem. Mine blows for a while then shuts off. When I let off the gas it will start up again. I don't feel any more flow when I switch from normal ac to max and It blows fine when runs on normal ac.
It's A Vacuum Problem; Should Not Be Too Difficult To Diagnose And Repair. Begin by looking at the hoses on the vacuum canister/reservoir to see that they're securly connected and that the canister is not damaged. Follow the hoses and verify that they are securly connected and not damaged (including any fittings). If there is a check valve between the canister and the vacuum port on the engine, verify that the check valve is not stuck open. If no check valve exist in this vacuum line, remove the hose between the engine and the canister, attach a hose, remove the other hose and plug the tap on the canister with your finger. Attach a vacuum pump or the like and apply vacuum to the hose you connected to the canister. Using the finger that is plugging the tap on the canister, determine that the canister is holding vacuum. Some vehicles build the check valve into the canister.
